Raison d'etre

A Sabbatical comes round once every ten years and here I am at the end of my 12th year of ordination. Apparently the clock doesn't start ticking again until after you've taken It. So you don't get two sabbticals in your 20th year.
When I first asked if I could take a Sabbatical, A Nice Lady from the Diocese asked me what I was going to do, I said Eat Maltesers in my garden, is that okay? She said No, not really. So I said I was planning to study the Apocrypha whilst wondering how much of it Jesus drew on in his teaching and parables. I did read the Aporcypha, twice, quite funny in places, and profound too and painful. But then I thought that that looked like work so instead I think I will read some old conference notes and have a go at learning hebrew and read my bible and wander around a bit in Jerusalem.
(Here's a photo of me buried in the sand from Devon.)
